March 16, 2023

Munich Airport has received two awards at the prestigious World Airport Awards. At the prize ceremony held during Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam, Munich Airport was honored with the awards for “Best Airport Staff in Europe” and “Best Airport in Central Europe”. In a global benchmark, Bavaria's international aviation hub ranks seventh, making it the only German airport among the top ten worldwide.

"We are particularly proud that our airport staff is ranked as the best in Europe. The awards are a recognition of the commitment and hard work of our entire airport team, especially during the challenges posed by the sudden recovery and increase of air traffic following the pandemic", states Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax: "We congratulate Munich Airport on this important 2023 customer award. The last few years have been extremely challenging for airports around the world, and following the Covid 19 pandemic, it is positive to see passenger numbers returning to normal and Munich Airport being recognized by its customers as a leading hub."

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are considered one of the most important accolades in the aviation industry. The awards are based on a survey of around 8.8 million travelers from over 60 countries.

All results of the new survey can be found at: www.worldairportawards.com.

The Skytrax awards for "Best Airport Staff in Europe" and "Best Airport in Central Europe" were accepted on behalf of Flughafen München GmbH by Jan-Henrik Andersson, Managing Director Commercial & Security (left) and Florian Lesch, Head of Service IT in Amsterdam
