Munich Airport’s new T1 Pier for non-Schengen traffic has been in operation since April 21, 2026. Covering 95,000 square meters, the new terminal area provides additional capacity for up to six million passengers a year and has been designed specifically with international long-haul travelers in mind. Alongside efficient passenger processes, the pier introduces a new world of shopping, services and dining that plays a defining role in the overall travel experience.
Where Wanderlust Meets Bavaria
The retail offer in the new T1 Pier is not conceived as a conventional line-up of individual shops, but as an integral part of the terminal experience. Retail, services and gastronomy are closely interwoven with the architecture, passenger flows and overall quality of stay. Travelers can find their way intuitively, while also being invited to explore, shop and linger.
The design of the pier reflects the identity of its location: Munich’s urban character meets elements inspired by the Bavarian landscape. Natural materials, warm colors and clean lines create an atmosphere that feels modern and international, while remaining unmistakably rooted in Munich.
Munich Airport’s First Walk-Through Duty-Free Store
One of the key highlights is Munich Airport’s first walk-through duty-free store. Located directly after security, it guides passengers through a curated retail space bringing together beauty, spirits and accessories.
This makes targeted use of one of the most important touchpoints in the passenger journey for travel retail. The store marks the starting point of the new pier’s shopping experience and creates a strong commercial impulse right at the beginning of the dwell time after security.
eurotrade Strengthens Travel Retail in the New Pier
A significant part of the retail offer is operated by eurotrade Flughafen München Handels GmbH, a subsidiary of Munich Airport.
“With the new eurotrade spaces in the T1 Pier, we are creating a shopping experience that is consistently designed from the passenger’s perspective: easily accessible, high-quality and seamlessly integrated into the passenger flow. The walk-through duty-free store is a strong signal for the continued development of travel retail at Munich Airport,” said Sven Zahn, Managing Director of eurotrade Flughafen München Handels GmbH.
Partner Brands with International Appeal and Regional Relevance
Alongside eurotrade’s own shops, selected third-party tenants add distinctive accents throughout the new pier. These include TUMI, the international premium luggage brand, and the FC Bayern Fan Shop, which combines Munich identity with global recognition. At Capi Electronics, passengers can pick up essential travel technology, accessories and gadgets right up until departure.
“The new T1 Pier offers brands an environment that is international, premium and at the same time unmistakably Bavarian. Together with many strong partners, we are creating an attractive marketplace at the heart of the T1 Pier – one that brings together premium travel essentials, powerful brand worlds and strong regional recognition to deliver a distinctive shopping experience,” said Maria Dahlhaus, Senior Vice President Commercial Activities at Flughafen München GmbH.
Brand Mix from Luxury to Travel Essentials
The offer in the new T1 Pier ranges from BOSS, Polo Ralph Lauren, Emporio Armani and Breitling to TUMI, Luxury Bags, Capi, LEGO, Sprüngli, Tripidi, Travelex, MyDutyFree and MyCorner, as well as the FC Bayern Store. In this way, the new pier combines international premium and luxury brands, travel retail assortments, services and concepts with a clear connection to Munich.
