Munich Airport was honored with the title “Best Airport in Central Europe” at the 2026 World Airport Awards ceremony, held on March 18, 2026, as part of the leading international airport trade fair Passenger Terminal EXPO in London. This coveted award is based on the world’s largest passenger survey conducted by the London-based aviation research institute Skytrax. In the overall ranking, Munich Airport successfully secured a spot among the world’s top 10 airports. This ranking underscores the high quality of service, strong customer focus, and continuous improvement of services and infrastructure at Munich Airport.
Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport: “I am very proud of this outstanding award and would like to extend a special thank you to our passengers for their trust and loyalty. This recognition once again confirms our commitment to premium service, efficiency, and passenger-friendly infrastructure. We remain committed to consistently investing in measures to enhance the passenger experience.” Lammers added, "I am particularly pleased about the Skytrax recognition for 'Best Airport Staff in Europe,' which pays tribute to the exceptional dedication and expertise of our staff. This is the third time we have received this prize since 2023.”
The Hilton Munich Airport has also once again been named “Best Airport Hotel in Europe.” Dr. Jan-Henrik Andersson, Chief Commercial Officer of Munich Airport, is delighted: “The top-rated Hilton Munich Airport Hotel, with 550 rooms including 43 suites, impressed as a quiet, elegant retreat for business and leisure travelers, with its Alpine and nature-inspired style of the highest caliber and the Michelin-starred Mountain Hub Gourmet Restaurant.”
First presented in 1999, the World Airport Awards have since become known as the “Oscars” of the aviation industry. The results are based on a survey of passengers from over 100 countries conducted from August 2025 to February 2026.
