From Northern Lights to palm trees

October 19, 2026

  • 182 destinations in 67 countries
  • Growth in long-haul service
  • More connections to Northern Europe

As the days grow shorter in Bavaria, Munich Airport's winter flight schedule, running from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027, offers travelers a wide range of opportunities for unique experiences around the globe. Options include viewing the Northern Lights in Scandinavia, taking long-haul trips to Asia, Africa, or North America, and visiting sunny vacation destinations or vibrant metropolises. With 182 total destinations in 67 countries, Munich Airport continues to offer one of Europe’s most attractive and diverse route networks, even in the winter.

New Airlines Expand the Offerings

Munich Airport welcomes two new airlines to its winter flight schedule: Cyprus Airways and Fly2Galicia. Fly2Galicia connects Munich with Santiago de Compostela twice a week. This city in northwestern Spain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the famous destination of the Way of St. James.

Cyprus Airways will also fly twice a week, starting December 17, to the Cypriot coastal city of Larnaca, which attracts visitors with its historic old town, Mediterranean charm, and mild temperatures year-round.

More Flights to Major Long-Haul Destinations

Several airlines are expanding their long-haul offerings from Munich. Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways are increasing their frequencies to Singapore and Bangkok, respectively, from seven to ten flights per week.

Lufthansa is also strengthening its long-haul network and increasing its connections to Mexico City, Johannesburg, and São Paulo from three to five flights per week each.

Service to Bangkok is growing particularly significantly: From January 16 through February 26, 2027, Lufthansa will offer an additional second daily flight on this route. Together with Thai Airways, travelers will thus have up to four daily connections between Munich and the Thai capital on certain weekdays.

The premium airline beOND is expanding its service and increasing its flights to the Maldives to four per week. These flights will include a stopover in Dubai or the Red Sea Airport in Saudi Arabia.

A special highlight of the winter flight schedule is the maiden flight of the new Lufthansa Airbus A350-1000, named "Deutschland." The most modern long-haul aircraft from Airbus, featuring a special LH anniversary livery, will initially take off from Munich to Tokyo (Haneda) on December 3. In the following weeks, the new flagship is also scheduled to fly to Shanghai and Singapore. Nine additional A350-1000s will gradually be stationed at the premium hub in Munich.

Discover Northern Europe — Northern Scandinavia and Lapland Continue to Gain Popularity

In addition to established flights to major Scandinavian cities, destinations in the far north are becoming increasingly popular. Lufthansa is responding to strong demand by increasing its service to the Arctic capital of Tromsø from two to four flights per week.

The Finnish Lapland destination Kittilä will also be served more frequently during the current winter season: Starting February 1, 2027, Lufthansa will increase the number of flights from two to three per week.

In addition, the winter flight schedule features other destinations in Finland that offer ideal conditions for winter adventures, snowy landscapes, and the Northern Lights: starting December 4, Lufthansa will offer two weekly flights to Rovaniemi alongside the Scandinavian carrier Norwegian. Beginning in early January 2027, Discover Airlines will supplement the schedule with a weekly flight to Ivalo.

Proven New Routes

Several routes launched this summer will continue through the winter. Air Serbia will maintain daily flights from Munich to the Serbian capital, Belgrade. Bluebird will keep offering three weekly flights to Tel Aviv, and Royal Jordanian Airlines will uphold its service to Amman with three flights per week.
