The trade union for the service sector, ver.di, has called for a full-day warning strike at Munich Airport for Monday, March 10. Ver.di has called on airport employees of Flughafen München GmbH (FMG), the security company responsible for passenger checks at Munich Airport (SGM), the aircraft handling companies AeroGround and SwissportLosch, as well as other handling service providers, to take part in the warning strike. At present, it is not possible to predict the level of strike participation among the various service providers.
In addition, warning strikes are planned at numerous other airports throughout Germany on Monday. Munich Airport therefore expects flight operations to be severely disrupted. Passengers should expect a significantly reduced flight schedule and delays. The airport, airlines and all partners are already in close contact to ensure the greatest possible stability through forward planning and to minimize inconvenience to travelers as far as possible within the constraints of the situation.
Of the approximately 820 flight movements planned at Munich Airport, the airlines are expected to cancel the majority. The airlines are currently developing special flight schedules. It is expected that up-to-date flight information will be published on the airport and airline websites over the course of the weekend. Air travelers are urged to check with their airline for flight status information. If the respective airline has canceled flights, it is recommended that travelers do not travel to the airport and instead contact the relevant travel provider or airline via their booking websites, hotlines or social media channels.
The latest information will be available on the airport's website at www.munich-airport.com and on the airlines' websites as soon as possible. The airport expects flight operations to return to normal on Tuesday, March 11.
