Terminal A at Newark named “Best New Airport Terminal in the World”
Munich Airport International GmbH (MAI) and its subsidiary, Munich Airport NJ LLC (MANJ) Operators of Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), are proud to announce that EWR Terminal A was recognized as the “World’s Best New Airport Terminal,” during the 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference in Frankfurt, Germany. The award is the result of a comprehensive survey among passengers worldwide, that evaluates traveler experiences regarding airport facilities, staff service and customer experience. Being the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey, the World Airport Awards are regarded as a benchmark of airport excellence for the world airport industry.
The recognition of “World’s Best New Airport Terminal” comes on the heels of a recent Skytrax 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating for EWR Terminal A by the aviation industry’s premier rating organization.

Opened in January of 2023, the $2.7 billion USD, one million square foot Terminal A at EWR provides 15 million annual customers with a world-class experience. With its spacious interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, its local New Jersey spirit, regionally inspired restaurants, and small businesses from the surrounding area, the terminal offers a unique ambience across landside and airside areas.
A major highlight is the public art installations throughout Terminal A, which feature the work of 29 local New Jersey artists and highlight the vitality, unique history, architecture, people, and character of the Garden State. Immersive digital content showcases New Jersey's landmarks, art and innovation through a series of permanent, large-scale multimedia displays.
In addition to the Skytrax “World’s Best New Terminal” Award and 5-Star Rating, Terminal A is the recipient of multiple other awards for excellence including the UNESCO Prix Versailles Award, LEED Gold Certification, and the American Society of Civil Engineers 2023 Project of the Year, among others.
