Corona tests at the airport

Various test options for passengers

The threats posed by the corona virus pandemic are still relevant.

Tests for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 should make infection chains more comprehensible. The tests are intended to be a further instrument to prevent many infected persons from spreading unnoticed throughout Germany.

Munich Airport offers three different testing options for passengers.

Corona SARS-CoV-2 testing options at the airport

Mandatory tests for passengers entering from risk areas

Passengers arriving at Munich Airport from a risk area must either have themselves tested within 48 hours before entry or directly at Munich Airport after entry. There are test centers for this purpose in Terminal 1 Module A and another in Terminal 2 baggage claim hall.

The tests are free of charge. You will be notified of the test result, depending on the volume of passengers tested. Especially on weekends and when the laboratory is working to full capacity there may be longer waiting times.

Until a negative test result is obtained, you must place yourself in domestic quarantine for up to 14 days. If the test result is positive, the laboratory will inform the responsible health authority, which will then contact the passenger by telephone to discuss further procedures. The quarantine obligation under the entry quarantine regulation ends as soon as a negative corona test is available.

    Please note:

  • Arriving passengers who are tested in Terminal 1 leave the test center via the arrivals area in Module A or Module C.
  • Arriving passengers of Terminal 2 leave the security area as usual via the central arrivals area of Terminal 2.
  • Depending on the number of passengers, there may be longer waiting times before the test centers. We therefore ask for your patience.
  • A pre-registration for the test is not necessary. However, a pre-registration can be made at form.ecolog-international.com

The Corona Test Centers are open during flight arrivals from the risk areas. If you have any questions about test results at the airport, please contact +49 32 221 852 081 or via email BayernAirportsTesting@ecolog-international.com.

In a few steps through the test

This is how the obligatory corona test is carried out for those entering from risk areas defined by the Robert Koch Institute

Tests for arriving passengers

Entering passengers from a non-risk area with a final destination in Germany can be tested free of charge for a possible infection with the coronavirus SARS- CoV-2. The Corona Test Center is located in the Forum of the München Airport Center (MAC) on level 04, and no prior registration is required. However, it is possible to register in advance online at form.ecolog-international.com.

Every passenger who has been tested is notified as soon as possible and receives a written report, regardless of the result. If you have any questions about test results at the airport, please contact +49 32 221 852 081 or via email BayernAirportsTesting@ecolog-international.com.

If someone should enter from a risk area, the Post-Entry Quarantine Ordinance (EQV) applies until further notice. (Last revised: August 7, 2020)

The Coronatest-Center at Munich Airport is located at the Forum of Munich Airport Center on Level 04. In this area, masks are mandatory. You do not need to register for the free corona test. At the beginning you fill out forms with your contact and travel data. An employee will check your details. As a test you will be given a throat swab. The test results will be announced within several days, depending on the test volume, via the contact details provided.

Pre-registration of voluntary and compulsory tests

Passengers arriving in Bavaria who take a voluntary or mandatory test at Munich Airport have the opportunity to register in advance for these tests. This saves time when registering online.

  • Please fill out the online form on  form.ecolog-international.com
  • After submitting the online form, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with a registration QR code and an identification number (ID)
  • With this confirmation email you go directly to the registration in the respective test center

Registration directly at the test centres is also possible without prior online registration. The tests are conducted by Ecolog, a private laboratory on behalf of the bavarian health authorities. This laboratory also informs the passengers tested of the test results. If you have any questions about test results at the airport, please contact +49 32 221 852 081 or via email BayernAirportsTesting@ecolog-international.com

Tests for departing passengers

Departing passengers at Munich Airport have the opportunity to be tested for possible infection with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Medicare, a subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH, offers such tests for a fee (190 euros, plus weekend and night surcharges where applicable) at the airport's medical center (Terminal 1, Modul E, Level 03).

The PCR test is performed as a throat swab. The results (Health certificate) are sent by email in German and English. A positive test result will be reported to the public health department.

Anyone interested in such a test must register for it by calling the airport's emergency department on  +49 89 975 633 99 or by sending an e-mail to notfallambulanz@munich-airport.de. The test results are available four hours after the swabs have been taken (there may be longer waiting times due to the high demand). Please note that you cannot call this number to request test results - neither for the free tests for travel returnees nor for the paid tests for departing passengers.

Attention: Tests are performed only on persons without Covid-19 symptoms, or without contact with a person who may have contracted Covid-19.
