Munich Airport was named “Airport of the Year 2026” at the 51st ATW Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards in Lisbon. The award recognizes the airport for its exemplary role in the areas of airline partnership, innovation, growth, and sustainability. This is demonstrated by the airport's exemplary cooperation with airlines, such as Lufthansa in the joint venture in Terminal 2. Other highlights included the opening of the bus depot for electric buses, the commissioning of solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles, and the testing of autonomous wheelchairs for passengers with reduced mobility.
Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport: “The ‘Airport of the Year 2026’ award is a great recognition of the commitment of our entire team. It confirms our commitment to driving innovation, promoting sustainable growth, and providing our passengers with a first-class travel experience together with our airline partners.”
