Teddy bears for a good cause

Charity Hockey Game in Landshut

With great dedication and a lot of heart, Munich Airport has supported a good cause. The LA Ice Breakers charity hockey game on February 7, 2026in Landshut impressively demonstrated just how effective partnership-based commitment can be.

More than 3,000 guests flocked to the VR Bank Arena to watch the game between the LA Ice Breakers and the Eishockey Oldtimers Germany. The special atmosphere in the arena was marked by sporting enthusiasm, a sense of community, and a shared desire to do good.

Teddy Bear Toss Makes a Strong Statement in Landshut

One of the highlights of the evening was the so-called "Teddy Bear Toss". The airport provided hundreds of teddy bears for this event, which were distributed to the visitors before the game began. When the home team scored its first goal in the first period, countless stuffed animals flew onto the ice—a moment that brought smiles to faces and gave everyone goosebumps.

Afterward, the teddy bears were collected and donated to acharitable organization. This wonderful tradition, which originated in North America, has long since found enthusiastic followers here as well—and has now also made a strong statement in Landshut.

But that's not all:

The airport not only provided the teddy bears, but also supported the LA Ice Breakersas part of its corporate sponsorship. In this way, it contributed in two ways to the great success of the event.

Among those delighted with the proceeds from the charity match are Stille Hilfe Landshut e. V.,OB-Direkthilfe, and the Ambulantes Kinderhospiz München (Children's hospice). This initiative provides valuable support for their important work.

We think this is a wonderful initiative that shows what’s possible when volunteers get involved with passion and dedication—and when strong partners like Munich Airport and the LA Ice Breakersstep up to the plate. Together, we can not only celebrate athletic successes, but also send a genuine message of solidarity.
