On May 22, 2026, Air Serbia will start operating direct flights between Munich and Belgrade again after 18 years. The Serbian airline will offer daily flights between Munich and the capital of the Republic of Serbia, with a flight time of 1.5 hours. The flights are operated by modern E195 jets. Air Serbia offers a two-class configuration with a total of 118 seats divided between Business and Economy Class.

Today, Munich Airport's new Terminal 1 Pier has officially started regular operations. To mark the occasion, Thomas Hoff Andersson, Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer at Munich Airport, personally welcomed travelers. With the new pier now open for regular operations, it sets another milestone in the ongoing development of Munich Airport. 

This afternoon, the new pier in Terminal 1 at Munich Airport was officially opened with a festive ceremony. Around 1,000 invited guests from the worlds of politics, business, and aviation were present for the event. 

Munich Airport and Lufthansa are strengthening their successful joint venture with a new agreement. Key elements include the start of planning for the expansion of terminal infrastructure and provisions for continuing and developing the partnership through 2056. 

For the first time, Munich Airport has been certified at Level 4 of the international Airport Carbon Accreditation program, which is run by the European airport association ACI Europe. This globally recognized certification confirms that the airport is consistently working toward its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2035.

Munich Airport was honored with the title “Best Airport in Central Europe” at the 2026 World Airport Awards ceremony, held on March 18, 2026, as part of the leading international airport trade fair Passenger Terminal EXPO in London.

Munich Airport reached a special milestone in passenger numbers today: At noon, the airport welcomed its one-billionth passenger since it opened in 1992. The airport celebrated this symbolic moment together with its partner, Lufthansa.
