Various test offers

At Munich Airport, several testing options for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus are offered in the public area and within Terminal 2.  They can be used by travelers as well as all other persons.For international transfer passengers (non-Schengen), a fee-based test center is available in Terminal 2 (near Gate H17).

Current regulations for domestic and international travel

Masks are mandatory on all domestic German routes and on flights departing or arriving in Germany.

For flights abroad, the entry regulations of the respective destination country must also be observed. For many destinations, a 3G certificate is required. Some countries also require mandatory proof of vaccination. Please find out before your trip which regulations apply in detail to the country you are traveling to.

Since June 1, 2022, entrants to Germany no longer have to provide proof of their vaccination, convalescent, or testing status.

Tests by MediCare

  • PCR-/Antigen/Anti body tests at the doctor

    Passengers can also undergo a RT-PCR test, nasal or throat swab for a fee (EUR 178,03*) via MediCare, a subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH, at the airport's medical center (Emergency Outpatient Clinic Terminal 1, Module E, Level 03), also with test certificate for Japan (surcharge EUR 25,00). Within 24 hours at the latest, travelers receive their findings by e-mail in German and English. A positive test result must be reported to the health department in accordance with regulatory requirements.

    No testing of suspected cases and contacts.

    No free testing after quarantine ordered by the authorities.

    In addition, MediCare offers all-day:

    • Rapid antigen tests (nasal swab, result in 30 minutes): from EUR 66,86*
    • Antibody IgG and IgM rapid tests (venous blood draw, result in 20 minutes) from EUR 60,23*. Not recognized for entry China!
    • As well as Fit to Fiy tests (from EUR 67,92*).

    All tests are performed by medical doctors. All tests and examinations are confirmed by a medical certificate (German/English).

    Please note that you cannot request test results under this number.

    Attention: Tests are performed only on persons without Covid-19 symptoms, or without contact with a person who may have contracted Covid-19.

In the test center of MediCare's emergency first aid center (Terminal 1/ Module E/Level 03), you can have yourself tested by doctors all day long, with prior registration.

    Citizens, travelers and employees can have an antigen test carried out by the airport subsidiary MediCare.

    For faster registration, please use the QR code at the entrance of the test station or register in advance and make an appointment.

    Please do not eat, drink or smoke 15 minutes prior to sample collection. The test offer may change at any time, please check directly with the provider.

    Important: Please show your ID card at the testing station.

    NOTE: As of August 1, 2022, the Citizen Test Center will be located in the Munich Airport Center (next to Metropolitan Pharmacy). There, the test center will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

    Your registration data will be stored until 31.12.2024 according to the test regulation.

    According to §7 (1) of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG), the laboratory is obliged to report a positive PCR test result to the public health department.

"Test & Fly" Center (MVZ)

  • Quick results: PCR / Antigen / Antibodies

    The medical laboratory MVZ Martinsried offers with its two test centers "Test & Fly" in the direction of Terminal 1 in the Munich Airport Center (level 03) and in Terminal 2, level 04 the possibility to be tested for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 with fastest possible result transmission.

    1. PCR standard* (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test):

      EUR 128 - test result usually within 2 - 4 hours. Sample collection: throat swab (on request also available as nasopharyngeal swab only).

    2. PCR-Express* (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Test):
      EUR 178 - test result usually within 60 - 120 minutes. Sample collection: throat and nasopharyngeal swab (throat swab only possible on request).

    3. PCR-Instant* (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test):
      EUR 198 - test result usually within 35 - 60 minutes. Sample collection: throat and nasopharyngeal swab (throat swab only possible on request).

      The following applies to the PCR tests:
      Detection of all current virus variants possible.

      For travelers to China or Japan: Register online. Inform the Test & Fly team at check-in that you need a certificate for entry into Japan or China.

    4. Rapid antigen test* (SARS-CoV-2):
      EUR 45 - test result usually within 30 - 60 minutes. Sample collection: throat swab (nasopharyngeal swab only available upon request).

      *Please do not eat, drink or smoke 15 minutes before taking the sample.

    5. Antibody test (SARS-CoV-2):
      EUR 28 instead of EUR 48 - special offer until 31.12.2022
      - test result usually within 90 - 120 minutes. Sample collection: capillary blood collection (usually from fingertip).

      This test option is a combined test for IgG and IgM antibodies. IMPORTANT: The test is NOT suitable for acute diagnosis. If you need to detect an acute infection, you should have a PCR or antigen test performed.

    Test offers and prices are subject to change. Please check directly with the provider if in doubt. All COVID-19 tests are VAT-exempt according to § 4 No. 14 UStG.

    The tests, which are subject to a charge, are primarily aimed at departing passengers at Munich Airport. However, non-travelers, rail travelers or car travelers can also have a test done here.

    • The "Test 6 Fly" text center in the direction of Terminal 1 in the Munich Airport Center (Level 03) is open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
    • The "Test & Fly" Center is open daily from 5 am to 8 p.m. at Terminal 2, Level 4. 

    Travellers can book the appointment online and pay in advance. 

    The test center is accredited according to DIN EN ISO 15189.

  • The "Test & Fly" center in Terminal 2, Level 04 is open daily from 5 until 8 p.m.. Travelers can make an appointment online and usually receive the result within 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the type of test (including Japan entry).
  • The second "Test & Fly" test center is located towards Terminal 1 in the Munich Airport Center next to the Metropolitan Apotheke on Level 03 and is open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Test facility for transfer passengers

  • PCR- and Antigen-Tests

    Two Covid-19 "Test & Fly Centers" are available in Terminal 2 for transferring passengers:

    • Schengen transfer area: near gate G21 and the Cee'U store.
    • Non Schengen transfer area: near gate H19 and the Capi store.

    The following internationally recognized testing options are offered there:

    1. PCR-Express* (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test):
      178 Euro - test result usually within 60 - 120 minutes. Sample collection: throat and nasopharyngeal swab (throat swab only available on request).

    2. PCR-Instant* (SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR test):
      198 Euro - test result usually within 35 - 60 minutes. Sample collection: throat and nasopharyngeal swab (throat swab only possible on request).

      For the PCR tests: Detection of all current virus variants possible.

      For travelers to China or Japan: Register online. Inform the Test & Fly team at check-in that you need a certificate for entry into Japan or China.

    3. Rapid antigen test* (SARS-CoV-2):
      45 euros - test result usually within 30 - 60 minutes. Sample collection: throat swab (nasopharyngeal swab only available upon request).
