Munich Airport obtains "5-Star" rating for the fourth time in a row
The London-based aviation research institute Skytrax awarded Munich Airport this coveted annual accolade for the first time in 2015, making Germany's second-largest airport the first European airport to be awarded this highest seal of quality. Munich Airport successfully maintained its 5-star status during re-certifications in 2017 and 2020. In 2023, the auditors from London once again subjected the Bavarian aviation hub to a detailed evaluation. The auditors' conclusion: Munich Airport was able to maintain its high quality despite the major challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and has not only maintained its high level of service and quality of stay, but has even improved it further.
Skytrax's assessment also focused on the projects and measures that have been implemented since the 2020 5-Star certification audit - for example, the installation of the new CT scanners at security checkpoints or the expansion of digitalized processes such as the use of biometrics, particularly in Terminal 2.
Being a 5-star airport means simplified processes along the entire travel chain as well as clear signage and routing. According to the experts at the Skytrax Institute, Munich Airport stands out from other airports thanks to its exceptional service quality, appealing, modern ambience and high level of comfort. Another important criterion is perfect cleanliness in all areas. The auditors also praised the "tangible spirit" of all employees at Munich Airport.
