Within just a few weeks, Munich Airport's new corporate design received two awards: in September 2025, it won the prestigious Red Dot Award in the "Brands & Communication Design” category, followed in October by the title of "Winner" at the German Design Award in the “Excellent Communications Design – Corporate Identity” category. Both awards are regarded as international seals of quality for outstanding communication design and underscore the strategic relevance and design excellence of the enhanced brand identity.
Strategic redesign
The revamped corporate design was developed to make the Munich Airport brand fit for the future while paying tribute to its origins. It addresses key requirements such as flexibility, digital usability, and accessibility. The aim was to create a consistent look that would enable both striking communication of offerings and image communication—from retail and infrastructure to emotional topics.
High-quality color systems, a simple layout, and clearer imagery characterize the new look. The original shape of the logo has been retained. The basic elements are complemented by a new illustration style and the connector pattern.
Service & Background
The design update is in use since November 2024. It is applied across all digital channels and print communications, as well as at many touchpoints in the terminals. Further information about the awards is available on the official websites Red Dot Award and the German Design Award.
