Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer

The course provides the participants with an in-depth and holistic understanding of Munich Airport’s approach for Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) Programs. It will equip participants will the necessary methodologies and tools for a structured approach to set-up and execute an ORAT Program in order to achieve safe, secure and efficient operations from day one onwards. It imparts knowledge about the typical phases and interdependencies of an ORAT Program. It covers necessary project and stakeholder management aspects as well as the planning and execution of the ORAT core elements such as the preparation of operational documents, familiarization and training, trial operations as well as airport transfer, opening and post-opening support.

Participants further benefit from Munich Airport’s extensive ORAT experience of more than 30 years and are also introduced to key learning points in order to be able to adapt them when setting up their own ORAT Program.

  • Define structure and scope of an ORAT Program
  • Define necessary ORAT Program Management related tools and how to implement them
  • Identify, integrate and manage stakeholders involved in an ORAT Program
  • Develop and align processes and procedures for the new infrastructure
  • Identify and follow-up preparation status of each stakeholder
  • Set-up, execute and evaluate training and familiarization requirements
  • Set-up, execute and evaluate a comprehensive trial programme for the new infrastructure
  • Identify, analyse and implement suitable transfer options (incl. necessary logistics)
  • Define measures for the opening and post-opening support
  • Define contingency procedures in case of lack of readiness of certain elements
