From January to October 2025, a total of 279,000 tons of air freight were flown via Munich. This equals an 8.5% increase compared to the same period last year and significantly outperforms the +1.1% average growth across all German airports. Momentum remained strong in November: during the first two weeks alone, we achieved a record freight growth rate of 15.3%.
Infrastructure expansion planned
To keep pace with this dynamic development, we are continuing to invest in our cargo infrastructure. In 2026, we will expand our cargo apron by approximately 13,000 m², creating additional staging areas for air cargo operations.
A key competitive advantage of our location is the excellent potential for medium- and long-term freight expansion, including direct apron access in prime positions. Demand from leading logistics companies and airlines for additional capacity remains high. To meet this need, we are planning an additional expansion by round about 60,000 m². The conceptual design is already in place, and we are now preparing to move into the initial planning phase.
