The summer flight schedule at Munich Airport took effect Sunday, March 29. During the 30-week period, 90 airlines have scheduled over 206,000 flights to 220 destinations in 70 countries. With new destinations, additional frequencies, and larger aircraft, the range of options is growing for both business and leisure travelers alike. At the same time, these developments significantly increase belly‑hold cargo capacity, offering airlines and logistics partners greater flexibility and improved access to global markets.
For example, Lufthansa will now operate three weekly flights on each of its routes to Johannesburg and São Paulo during the summer. Service to Seattle will also be expanded: Lufthansa is increasing the frequency by three additional flights, bringing the total to six flights per week.
There is also news from the Taiwanese airline EVA Air: Starting April 22, the Taipei route will be served by a larger Boeing 777-300 aircraft, doubling capacity, particularly in Premium Economy and Business Class.
Long-haul routes to the Middle East will also be significantly expanded this summer, subject to further developments in the region: Etihad Airways' presence at Munich Airport is being strengthened, and starting September 1, 2026, the number of nonstop flights between Munich and Abu Dhabi will be increased from two to three daily flights. The additional daily afternoon flight will be operated with the newest aircraft in the Etihad fleet: the Airbus A321LR.
Beginning March 27, Royal Jordanian will resume its regular flights from Munich Airport to Amman, the capital of Jordan. This new nonstop service to Queen Alia International Airport will operate year-round, three times a week. This marks the comeback of the route, last in service in 2020. Gulf Air is boosting its presence by increasing its service to Bahrain from four weekly flights to daily flights starting in July. Additionally, Air Arabia will continue its daily flights to Sharjah, introduced in December 2025, through next summer.
There is also news regarding flights to North Africa. Royal Air Maroc is expanding its service to Casablanca, increasing the number of flights per week from two to three.
