The Lovelace: A Hotel Happening in 2017-2019

An absolutely one-of-a-kind hotel called The Lovelace was inaugurated this year at the heart of Munich’s Old Town – but will close its doors again after just two years!

The Lovelace aims to be not just a hotel, but a happening. What does this mean? It invites you to enter publicly accessible rooms and join conversations and discussions, listen to live music or enjoy a Sunday brunch. Guests are inspired and entertained by readings, movie evenings, concerts, discussions of political and social issues, ping-pong tournaments, yoga events, vegan pop-up dinners and many other activities.

Yet these daily events are combined with absolute privacy: while a wide range of activities provide entertainment from morning to evening, elsewhere in the same building guests can sleep soundly and comfortably in absolutely quiet rooms behind soundproofed doors and windows.

The original interior of this handsome heritage-protected structure, which was built in the late 19th century to serve as the Munich branch of the Royal Bavarian Bank, has been converted into 30 spacious suites and rooms that merge the comfort of high-end executive offices with the elegant look of modern designer furniture. The Lovelace also provides a fantastic view of Munich’s historic Old Town and is surrounded by the city’s best theaters, museums, boutiques and restaurants.

Slightly hidden away on the third floor is the loveliest spot in the whole building: a small outdoor terrace with a stunning view of the Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Dear Lady). What a shame that it will disappear again in a little over two years!
