The German Aviation Security Training Ordinance (LuftSiSchulV) came into effect on April 11, 2008. It represents the implementation of the common European standards for aviation at the national level. This marked a further building block in the European aviation security concept.
Under the Ordinance, airport operating companies and air carriers are required to provide security training to all persons who have access to security restricted areas in an airport. This training requirement applies not only when requesting access authorization for new employees. Training must also be updated at regular intervals for all persons who already have access authorization.
