Various test offers

At Munich Airport, various testing options for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus are offered in the public area and in Terminal 2.

They can be used by travelers as well as all other persons.

Returning travelers still have access to a testing center in the non-public area in Terminal 2 (near the baggage carousels). For international transfer passengers (non-Schengen), a Test Center is available in Terminal 2 (near Gate H17).

General travel advice

All air travelers who wish to travel to Germany by plane and change planes or enter Germany must undergo mandatory testing at the foreign departure airport before departure.

Tests by MediCare

  • Tests directly at the doctor

    Passengers can also undergo a PCR test for a fee (184.44 euros*) via MediCare, a subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH, at the airport's medical center (Emergency Outpatient Clinic Terminal 1, Module E, Level 03), also with test certificate for Japan. Within 24 hours at the latest, travelers receive their findings by e-mail in German and English. A positive test result must be reported to the health department in accordance with regulatory requirements.

    In addition, MediCare offers all-day:

    • Rapid antigen tests (nasal swab, result in 30 minutes): from 73.27 euros*
    • Antibody IgG and IgM rapid tests (venous blood draw, result in 20 minutes) from 66,64 Euro*
    • as well as Fit to Fiy tests (from 67,92 Euro*).

    All tests are performed by medical doctors. All tests and examinations are confirmed by a medical certificate (German/English).

    Attention: Tests are performed only on persons without Covid-19 symptoms, or without contact with a person who may have contracted Covid-19.

In the test center of MediCare's emergency first aid center (Terminal 1/ Module E/Level 03), you can have yourself tested by doctors all day long, with prior registration.

  • Free tests

    Incoming travellers and also other persons (citizen testing) who wish to be tested for possible infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus can do so free of charge at the Corona Test Center. The Corona Test Center is located in the Forum of the Munich Airport Center (MAC) on Level 04 and is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight.

    Each person who is tested will be notified promptly and will receive a written report, regardless of the result.

    Travelers who require proof of testing for their trip abroad, including their ID card number, for example, should contact one of the private test centers.

    Please make an appointment online for testing. Without prior appointment or registration, you may have longer waiting times.

    The data provided during registration must match exactly with the data in your identification document.

    The registration data is stored for 30 days. If your scheduled arrival time at Munich Airport is delayed, you do not have to do anything if you have already registered in advance.

    The tests are conducted by a private provider on behalf of the bavarian health authorities. The laboratory also informs the passengers tested of the test results.

Tests at the "Test & Fly" Center

  • Test result within 6 hours

    The medical laboratory MVZ Martinsried with its"Test & Fly" Center in terminal 2, level 04 offers a testing Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 with fastest possible result determination. 

    1. SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Test*: 128€ (incl. VAT.). Test result usually within 3 to 6 hours. Sampling: throat swab. Detection of the following virus variants possible: B.1.1.7 (origin in England), B.1.351 (origin in South Africa), P.1 (origin in Brazil). (Virus sequencing is performed from all PCR-positive SARS-CoV-2 samples. The determined sequences are made available to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI)).
    2. SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test*: 45€ (incl. VAT.). Test result usually within 30 to 60 minutes. Sampling: throat swab. 

    *Please do not eat, drink or smoke 15 minutes before testing. Test offers and prices can change. Please check directly with the test center.

    The tests, which are subject to a charge, are primarily aimed at departing passengers at Munich Airport. Non-travelers, rail travelers or car travelers can also have a test done here.

    The "Test & Fly" Center is open daily from 5 am to 7 pm at Terminal 2, Level 4. Travellers can book the appointment online and pay in advance. The PCR test is performed as a throat swab. 

    Within three to six hours, a push message is sent to their mobile phone announcing that the results are ready. The full medical report is also sent by email in German and English. A positive test result will be reported to the public health department.

    According to §7 (1) of the German Infection Protection Act (IfSG) the laboratory is obliged to report a positive test result to the public health department.

The "Test & Fly" Center in Terminal 2, Level 04 is open daily from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Travelers can schedule an appointment online and receive the results within three to six hours. 

Test facility for transfer passengers

Two Covid-19 test stations are available in Terminal 2 for transferring passengers.

  • Transfer area Schengen: opposite gate G32

  • Transfer area Non Schengen: at gate H17

The following internationally recognized testing options are offered there:

  • SARS-CoV2-RT PCR test for 128,- Euro (throat swab, result usually after 3 to 4 hours)
  • SARS-CoV2- Antigen-Rapid Test for 45,- Euro (throat swab, result after usually 1 to 2 hours)

The tests are performed in cooperation with MVZ Martinsried and Aicher Ambulanz.

Passengers who need the test can book it at 049.info/covid19test. Payment for the test is exclusively cashless via the test registration website. Passengers can obtain more information from the on-site test center.
