The new wing of the Hotel Hilton Munich Airport is complete. The 162 additional rooms feature exclusive decor inspired by the Alpine peaks not far from the airport.
"Welcome to our mountain hub!" With these words hotel director Dagmar Mühle opens the door to one of the rooms in the addition. "We chose this motto to highlight the special location of Munich Airport and our hotel." The mountain theme is creatively reflected in many design details, from the carpet pattern to the materials, which include light oak, natural stone and felt. "Modern graphic designs on the walls pick up on Munich Airport's hub identity by depicting the destinations served from here," explains the director.
With Elin Antvedt, the head of housekeeping, Dagmar Mühle makes the rounds of the expansion wing, with the 162 additional rooms distributed over six floors. With a practiced glance she checks that the tasteful furnishings are placed symmetrically and that everything exudes an inviting sense of comfort. Elin Antvedt, the "resident genie" reveals: "The first thing I look at is the position of the curtains. The next check is the bed: Are all of the sheets smooth? Are the pillows placed where they belong? In our hotel, cleanliness and order come first and foremost."
